‘Collection of the Rectangle”

37 x 48
Silkscreened 35mm photography, layered woodcuts on Unryu paper
2021
Part of the “Feeling Torn” series

Inspired by the impact of photography throughout history juxtaposed to the relationship we share with images today. By utilizing 35mm film and silkscreen printing the photos on top of each other I’m relating the separate landscapes into a shared experience.

Furthermore by layering woodcuts of my own experience illustrated I’m offering the viewer a liminal space between physical experience and psychological experience. Encouraging the viewer to look for personal experience and the beauty that comes with it by spending a little longer to digest the mass amount of imagery consumed each day.
