Vote Like It’s 1776
For this 2020 voting Campaign, I wanted to target a younger audience by creating a graphic that feels exciting. The large amounts of texture, rough strokes and overlapping colors all help bring a sense of movement and youthfulness to the campaign.
Campaign Overview
This campaign “Vote like it’s 1776” takes a popular phrase party like it’s 1776 and spins it towards promoting voting habits. The campaign manifests itself through multiple iconic symbols featured within the posters as well as a series of ads and other items.
Campaigning in Covid
The year 2020 meant a lot of different changes, one of these being the way we cast our vote. When mail-in voting became both popular and necessary this campaign was able to adapt and encourage this new practice. These collectible stamps could be given out in campaign fundraisers to commemorate the new voting methods and be a reminder of difficulties overcome.
Shirt Giveaways
Another form of giveaways that could be used at table events and fundraisers would be shirts. These shirts take the main features from the posters and translate them into fun and high-energy shirts that any college or high-school student would like to wear.
Polymer Plate Printing
One final giveaway item that bridges some of my design and print work would be collectible poster prints. These prints are printed on a high-quality paper by use of polymer plate printing. In this process I developed polymer plates through an outside company and hand-printed a edition of 25 prints.
Social Media Ads
The Vote like its 1776 campaign when moved into a social media space transforms in front of your eyes to bring special attention to the hand-done typography. The animation features the type to appear to be writing itself on the page.
